I am back from twelve days of solid field birding in Belize! With a team of scientists, book authors, and sound specialists, I spent 12-16 hours a day sweating, scratching, squinting, and sighting. While I process a million photos, and gather together my bird list and sketches, here is a little ambience for you: Howler Monkeys are a common aural backdrop to the Belizean rainforest and its Mayan ruins.

I love howler monkeys, though they freaked me out when I first heard them from my backyard in Panama. Thought I had lions coming after me
Can’t wait to hear more about this awesome trip and see your pictures! Hope you are doing well.
If I ever read “Green Mansions” again I’ll play this on a short loop. In a free association exercise, if I was given howler monkeys “Green Mansions” would be the reply.
That’s kinda spooky.
