Um, I’m using color again. I’m experimenting with CS4 and my new Wacom tablet, and this is a drawing I have been working on. I have new projects afoot, new concepts I’m thinking about, but I don’t want to talk about that too much yet. Click here to see the first drawing I did.
Ok, this is downright scary! You’ve taken a medium that is not a natural drawing tool and created one of the most beautiful sketches I have ever seen created without the use of paper, ink, or pencil. Wow! I am thoroughly impressed now. The level of restraint in stroke and line weight is absolutely reminiscent of early master drawings. Presentation would be a little tricky, but you have choices that others wouldn’t have. How would you present? On a monitor? Printed like a photograph? Printed like a lithograph? Printed on canvas?
You might even want to consider more, dare I say, more commercial mediums, tshirts, coffee mugs, etc. Bringing art of this quality to the masses would undeniably help the culture of aesthetics in this country. Master work like this would definitly raise the bar.
Great work!!
Wow, thanks. Except for the t-shirt/mug part. Are you being sarcastic? I know I’m asking for it - this is kind of like the 5th grade me: hey look at the pretty bird drawing I made. And for someone who is so interested in contemporary art, this is more than a little risky; perhaps I’m nailing the coffin shut.
Not being sarcastic, Actually mean it. I think the public could use an aesthetic shot in the arm. I would include myself in that comment. Sometimes I find it strange that the world of art and the greater culture don’t mix so much. The image itself is of the highest standards. It would be great to bring it to a bigger audience. Those who are in the know already know how good something like this is. I like to see those who don’t know light up when they find out.
This is very exciting Cathy!!!! I was so sad when you had to give up such a huge color talent with the allergies. This is why I LOVE technology! I’m excited to see how you utilize/integrate this medium into your current work.
This is pretty freakin’ outstanding. Love the contrast between the right wing/talons area and the head/upper-parts. It swings. The talons rock. Subtle use of color. Nice sense of quiet but powerful movement, perfectly captures one’s experience of Bubo v.
