As a monkey, he looks bored, but to an anthropomorphizing viewer, he looks desperate. Guess that’s the power of these drawings – that most viewers will put themselves in the monkey’s place.
I find this drawing really wrenching – could get all philosophical, but wrenching sums it up.
He “exited” long before the administrative catastrophe; 7/4/84 to be precise.
He’s showing such a low-intensity threat (it IS really called that), that he looks as though he was bored with the photo session.
